With Clint Capela’s return to the Atlanta Hawks’ s line-up on Monday, they defeated the Miami Heat 121-113, in a game in which they never trailed. And while Capela’s rertun was limited to just 21 minutes on the court, the value of his presence in short minutes made an impact as he finished with 12 points and six rebounds off the bench in the win.
In addition to Capela’s return giving the Hawks a healthy roster, the win over the Heat marked just the second time this season they have won three consecutive games, with the last time they won three in a row was back in early November. On Monday, 92-9 The Game’s Chris Thomas and Caleb Johnson spoke following Atlanta’s win and the two discussed the importance of Capela’s return and how the health of the team’s line-up has been pivotal in the ups and downs of their season.
“The one thing they haven’t been is healthy,” Johnson responded to Thomas when asked about what may be key in the team’s three straight wins. Johnson continued by reminding Thomas that the last time the Hawks were at full strength was briefly back in December, “and yet that didn’t even last the entire game. They’re finally healthy tonight and they showed,” Johnson added. As the two continued their conversation, Johnson noted that Trae Young and Dejounte Murray’s pairing appears to be panning out for the Hawks as they have been “really working together and playing team basketball,” Johnson said.
