The Atlanta Hawks will return to action on Wednesday as they take on the Chicago Bull in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament, with hopes of extending their season into the playoffs. On Wednesday, Steak Shapiro and Rusty Mansell shared their thoughts on how they believe the Hawks should fare in Chicago, with Shapiro expressing that while he would like to see the Hawks advance into the Eastern Conference playoffs, he would not be surprised if their season comes to an end this week.
“But again, when somebody shows you who they are, believe it,” Shapiro said as he and Mansell discussed the Hawks once again finding themselves in familiar territory with Wednesday marking the third straight season the Hawks have found themselves needing to battle out of the play-in round to keep their post-season going. Shapiro would note that despite the Hawks having to deal with injuries throughout the season, regular season record of 36-46 is something they earned “honestly,” and the season has been disappointing to an extent.
“You are not a talentless team. You’ve got Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, you’ve got the emerging Jalen Johnson and you’ve got Bogi Bogdanovic,” Shapiro noted and later adding that the Hawks are “going to have to do something with the fan base and tell them how it’s going to be different,”.
