Spring football is underway for high school teams around the state of Georgia. The GHSA allows 10 practices and either a spring game or intra-squad scrimmage. At the New Schools at Carver, Darren Myles is starting his 17th season as head coach of the Panthers. Last season Carver posted a record of 11-3 and advanced to the class AAA state final where they fell to Cedar Grove. The Panthers return 4 starters on offense and 4 starters on defense from last year's squad.
One important returning starter is quarterback Bryce Bowens. "For these ten days, we will be teaching fundamentals, "says Myles. "One of the beautiful things about going to the state finals is that we got to have five more weeks of practice. Now we are back on the field to see who wants to be physical and establish our depth chart with the spring game." Carver will be taking part in a six-team spring jamboree at McEachern High School on May 20th. Pebblebrook, Lovejoy, Hapeville Charter and Lithia Springs. Will be participating in the jamboree. Carver will open the 2022 season against South Cobb.
