In the latest sign that Carlos Correa will not be an Astro in 2022, the All-Star shortstop is selling his home in Houston. The 3,657-square-foot house boasts three bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a covered patio and an outdoor basketball court, among other amenities.

Situated in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood, Correa’s pad was listed for sale on C&K Properties earlier this week with an asking price of $1,599,000. Correa and his wife Daniella bought the property in August 2017, months before Houston beat the Dodgers in a thrilling, seven-game World Series.

A two-time All-Star and former Rookie of the Year, Correa debuted in 2015, three years after being drafted first overall. The 27-year-old free agent had been seeking a deal in excess of $300 million, well north of the $160 million Houston offered him after last season. Coming off career-highs in home runs (26), runs scored (104) and extra-base hits (61), the Puerto Rico native has drawn interest from the Cubs and Yankees, among other potential suitors. The Tigers also pursued him for a brief time before ultimately pivoting to Javier Baez.

The Astros’ succession plan at shortstop remains somewhat murky, though Jeremy Peña (No. 4 in Houston’s farm system, according to MLB.com’s prospect rankings) and veteran utility man Aledmys Diaz would seem to be the leading in-house candidates. Of course, if the reigning AL Champs are thinking bigger, Trevor Story, whose free-agent market has been slow to develop, could present a marginally cheaper alternative to Correa.

Correa changed agents during the lockout, hiring Scott Boras to represent him in contract negotiations.
