This time next week, the Atlanta Falcons will have wrapped up the first day of training camp officially signifying the start of the 2023 season. And while there are several questions surrounding the team and how well they will perform this season, one of the biggest questions 92-9 The Game evening host, Jon Chuckery, has surrounds third year tight end, Kyle Pitts.
“Do you have faith and confidence in Kyle Pitts to have that breakout year that we’ve been talking about,” the evening host asked as he began his conversation on Pitts. As he continued, Chuckery noted that Pitts, along with Drake London and now Bijan Robinson, the trio are the top first round draft picks under Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith, “so now we have to win with those guys,” he added.
And while the night host admits that he understands production from Pitts this season will be impacted by how well Desmond Ridder plays at quarterback, unfortunately he has been “very underwhelmed with the start for Kyle Pitts’ career,” he states. Continuing with his statements, Chuckery points to the fact that the Falcons drafted Pitts with the fourth overall pick of the 2020 draft and in his opinion, Pitts needs to be a “massive impact player,” for the Falcons and later states that he believes the production from Pitts should be along the lines of the likes of Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.
“He’s drafted fourth overall. He’s the highest drafted tight end in NFL history. You have to be that kind of player. You have to have that kind of impact,” Chuckery said. Click link above to hear more of Chuckery’s comments in their entirty:
