As the PGA Championship, the second major of the 2022 season, was being battled out and eventually won by Justin Thomas this past weekend in Tulsa, OK, not only did you not find the name Tiger Woods anywhere near the top of the leaderboard, he was not even on the course for the final day of competition.

After barely making the cut, Woods shot a dreadful 79 on a cold Saturday at Southern Hills Country Club. In obvious pain to both the spectators at the course, and the loyal television viewers who will tune in often only because Woods is playing in a tournament. After the round, Woods pulled out of the major a day early without holding any type of press conference.
When Tiger was involved in a single car, car crash in early 2021 many doubted he would ever be able to compete on the PGA Tour again at all.
After numerous surgeries and lots of physical therapy Woods made his return at the Masters this past April.
After the Masters, Woods admitted that he fought through soreness and fatigue to make it through to the final hole. But this past weekend at Southern Hills proved more than the icon could handle.
Damon Hack joined Dukes & Bell to look back at the PGA Championship, and when the guys asked him directly if Tiger Woods will ever have a real chance to win another major title Hack was honest when replied, “I would never count him out, but I think he is having a hard time playing only the major championships.”
With Woods only playing in select tournaments, and not being able to practice regularly enough to build up stamina and endurance, the odds of him winning again are not in his favor.
“These are the hardest golf courses, with the longest walks, and the thickest roughs” explained Hack when offering his thoughts on what Tiger has to go through when competing at major championships.
The next major is the US Open, which will be played June 16-19 in Brookline, MA at The Country Club.
The golf world will be waiting to see how Tiger handles the course.
