Drew Brees shocked many after he quit his on-air gig at NBC Sports only one year into his deal. In a recent interview with USA Today Sports, Brees said the main reason for his departure from the broadcast world was to spend more time with his family.

Although he left NBC, the future Hall of Fame quarterback claims that he still loves broadcasting but noted how the schedule is similar to the one he had as a player thus shortening the amount of time with his kids despite being done as a player.

"I do love broadcasting NFL games," Brees told USA TODAY Sports last Friday. "I think I could be one of the very best at it if I chose to go that direction."

"It just so happens to be that broadcasting NFL games is on the weekend in the fall, same time you want to be spending time with your family. There’s just that balance that has to be found."

Brees may have found his new gig after Front Office Sports reported that he could be a part of a "quarterbacks only" mega cast for Amazon's Thursday Night Football.

While working on Thursdays from one location would give Brees a ton of time to enjoy his kids, he wouldn't explicitly lay out any broadcasting plans.

"The broadcasting, that kind of stuff, those opportunities are there as well. I think it’s a great way to stay involved in the game, stay active in the game, engaged, because that’s the dynamic. But yeah, look, all these things are in play."

The former NFL MVP finished his career as one of the most accomplished signal callers in NFL history, retiring as the NFL's all-time leader in passing yards and completions (Tom Brady passed him in 2021).

We don't know exactly what Brees' plans are post retirement but broadcasting still seems to be in his future.
