The Eagles have placed running back Miles Sanders on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, a move that will keep him out at least three weeks, according to an NFL Network report.

Sanders will now be out for at least the Eagles game this Sunday vs. the Detroit Lions, their home game against the Los Angeles Chargers and then their trip to Denver to play the Broncos.

It is possible he could return after those three games, but that is no guarantee, as the team is calling him week-to-week.

Sanders left the Eagles’ loss to the Las Vegas Raiders with an ankle injury in the first quarter. The injury at first appeared to be very serious, and potentially season-ending, so the fact that he should return this season is good news overall.

With Sanders out the team will lean on running backs Kenny Gainwell, Boston Scott and likely Jordan Howard, who should be brought up from the practice squad.
