Kirby Smart starting to remind you of Nick Saban in one specific way

Last week Kirby Smart turned a few heads when he publicly opposed a trend that is taking over college football, the hiring of General Managers to lead football programs. Kirby shared his stance and DawgNation's Kirby Smart can understand exactly where he's coming from.

"A lot of this comes down to power and what Kirby is essentially saying is that he wants to be fully in control of all the decision-making around Georgia Football because when you're as successful as he's been, why would you not to," says Brandon Adams. "As long as he keeps winning he's got the freedom to say that. I prefer college football lifers having this power, it dilutes what has made college football special."

The comparison to Saban is clear when one considers how fully in control of the Alabama team he was throughout the course of his career there. Alabama does have a football GM now as the trust in Kalen Deboer isn't as proven as it was with Saban, and while other programs have also hired people in similar roles, Kirby Smart, atop the college football world, isn't looking for that.
