Georgia Tech upsetting Clemson would shake state more than Georgia loss

Both Georgia and Georgia Tech have huge games this weekend. The sixth ranked Bulldogs travel to Neyland Stadium to take on the 15th ranked Volunteers in their first SEC game of the season as their pursuit for another national title really ramps up. The Yellow Jackets host the 12th ranked Tigers in hopes of an upset that will prove they are legit contenders in the ACC. Earlier today The Morning Shift explained why Georgia Tech upsetting Clemson would shake the state more than Georgia losing to Tennessee.

“This game is so important for what he’s [Brent Key] trying to continue to build at Georgia Tech, and it’s so important for their season. We can talk about the Georgia game all you want. To me, this is the biggest game of Georgia Tech’s season right here, Clemson.” Beau Morgan said

Beau goes on to explain why he thinks Georgia Tech upsetting Clemson would trump Georgia losing to Tennessee.

“Clemson has a Heisman Trophy finalist and they were a College Football Playoff favorite, and essentially they now have to go win the conference or they’re eliminated from the playoff, and I think that’s a big deal. If Clemson loses this game and then they don’t win out they’re eliminated from the playoff.” Beau said

Georgia could lose to Tennessee and another SEC team like Alabama or Texas and still make the College Football Playoffs, and if Tennessee loses to Georgia they could win out and still make the playoff as well, so the stakes aren’t as high for Georgia and Tennessee as they are for Georgia Tech and Clemson.

Like Beau said if Clemson loses to Georgia Tech they HAVE to win out or they won’t make the playoff, and for the Yellow Jackets if they do find a way to upset Clemson they now have a legit path to the ACC title game, and maybe more.
