How will Acuna's return shift the Braves' lineup?

Jon Chuckery talks with Gabe Burns about what the Braves lineup will look like once Ronald Acuna returns

The 2022 MLB season is underway and the defending World Series champions, the Atlanta Braves put their first series of the season in the books with a split with the Cincinnati Reds. After dropping game one of the series, the Braves would take the next two before closing out the series with a loss to the Reds. In total, the Braves used four pitchers on Thursday, five on Friday and four on Saturday and Sunday.

Reflecting on the start of the season for the Braves, Jon Chuckery was joined by Braves beat writer, Gabe Burns and the two discussed the pitching rotation and Chuckery pointed out the up and down results of the production on the mound asked Burns just how much of what was seen over the weekend was a result of the shortened spring training due to the lockout. “We’re going to see that,” Burns told Chuckery adding that he believes that this will be seen not only with the Braves, but throughout the league.

In addition to the roller coaster pitching over the weekend, fans got their first look at the Braves lineup post Freddie Freeman and still without Ronald Acuna, who is reportedly expected to return by the final week of April in a designated hitter role. However, once Acuna is back with the Braves in a fulltime role, Chuckery asked Burns what is thoughts were on where Acuna would end up in the Braves’ lineup once back and how the lineup will flow. “Acuna will definitely be at lead off obviously,” Burns said adding that whatever Braves manager Brian Snitker does with the lineup, it will “flow better” with Acuna inserted.
