For the past several months, several of the world’s best known and most accomplished golfers have either ran away from the topic of playing for the new competitor to the PGA, or jumped in line to cash a big pay check before even playing a single round for the new series, which is being overseen by Greg Norman, one of the biggest names in golf history.

With the mega deals to jump ship being handed out, and a record breaking $20 million total purse for the first tournament, will more players consider joining the LIV Golf Series despite the threats from the PGA Tour of suspension for those who bolt?

When Jeff Schultz of the Athletic joined Sam & Greg to offer his take on the LIV Tour Series, he was very candid when saying, “From the money standpoint it’s an easy decision for the competitors.”

Jeff followed that statement by being brutally honest when offering, “It’s B.S., they are doing it for the money, so just go up there and admit it.”

Are the golfers that have joined the new series doing so for the love and growth of the game, or simply for the big pay opportunities?

Jeff also remarked that he felt the PGA Tour will possibly decide to increase some of their purses at tournaments also.

“This could move them to more guarantees” remarked Jeff when finishing his thoughts on how the PGA Tour may be forced to handle their new competition.
