If you thought the last Giants-Commanders games had high stakes, just wait for this week's.

New York is set to face Washington on Sunday in Landover in an NFC East game that has major playoff implications. The two teams met in Week 13, and the Commanders actually will be seeing New York for the second straight game after having a bye in Week 14.

The last time the two sides met it ended in a tie. For the Giants, that was followed by an ugly loss to the Eagles this past Sunday, and now both New York and Washington sit at 7-5-1 entering Sunday night. For now, the two teams own the final pair of wild card spots in the conference.

It’s a huge game for both sides, and Giants safety Julian Love said on “Tiki and Tierney” that it’s being viewed as a playoff game.

“We’re ready, we’re ready to go for sure,” Love said. “This is – people can get excited – this is our first playoff game. This is the (opportunity) right here. This is kind of essentially all or nothing, so we have to really lock in and take it to them, because we have before."

Things have unraveled for the Giants, who began the season 6-1 but have gone 1-4-1 since. That all can be forgiven if they find their way into the postseason despite playing in a loaded division, and a win Sunday will go a long way in ensuring that happens.
