The Pro Day circuit made its way to Lynchburg, Virginia Tuesday, where all eyes were on Liberty quarterback Malik Willis, projected by many to be the first quarterback selected in next month’s NFL Draft. Willis, who checked in six pounds heavier than he did three weeks ago in Indianapolis (6’0”/225), looked the part with a dazzling display, wowing with his footwork, arm strength and elite athleticism.

Willis’ workout was attended by countless scouts, media members, coordinators and even a pair of NFL head coaches (Mike Tomlin and Matt Rhule). The 22-year-old looked plenty polished at his showcase, turning heads with jaw-dropping throws like this.
Willis, who went viral for helping a homeless woman while attending the NFL Combine earlier this month, received praise on Twitter, not only for his performance but for how much fun he was having.
While most consider this a relatively weak quarterback class, it’s possible we see as many as three drafted in the first round with the Panthers (sixth overall pick), Falcons (No. 8), Seahawks (No. 9), Commanders (No. 11), Saints (No. 18) and Steelers (No. 20) all seeking improvements at that position. Willis appears to have cemented himself as a no-brainer first-round pick while Heisman finalist Kenny Pickett seems poised to join him on the stage in Vegas following an impressive Pro Day Monday in Pittsburgh.
A former three-star recruit who spent two seasons at Auburn before transferring to Liberty in 2019, Willis could be of interest to his hometown Falcons, who recently made the difficult decision to move on from franchise quarterback Matt Ryan.
