Michael Conforto will not play for a team until 2023.
The free agent outfielder recently underwent surgery on his right shoulder that will sideline him for the remainder of the 2022 season, according to Audacy’s MLB insider Jon Heyman.

Conforto 29, sustained the injury while working out during the lockout, per his agent, Scott Boras.
No team had signed Conforto in free agency once the lockout had ended as he was rehabbing his injured shoulder.
Conforto had declined a qualifying offer from the Mets last year, which would have paid him $18.4 million for the 2022 season.
Instead, Conforto’s free agency will extend into 2023. Because Conforto remains unsigned, the Mets will not receive a compensatory draft pick for having the qualifying offer declined.
Had Conforto signed with a team, the Mets would have received a draft pick in the 75-80 range, per Mike Puma of the NY Post.
