The Milton Eagles got their seventeenth win Tuesday evening, but they had to work overtime to get it . After taking a 33-23 lead to the locker room at halftime, the Eagles saw their lead evaporate in the second half as Cherokee scored 20 points on the 4th quarter to tied the game at 57-57 , sending it to overtime. Milton would outscore the Warriors in the extra frame for a 66-63 victory.
Bruce Thornton led the Eagles with 19 points and 7 assists, while Kendall Campbell added 17 points and 5 rebounds. Milton’s record improves to 17-2 . Cherokee is 16-4 . Milton, the top ranked team in class 7A , will play at Woodstock Friday night and visit Wheeler Saturday evening. With the win, Milton takes sole possession of first in the region standings and sit a game ahead of Cherokee.
