ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter wasn't breaking any crazy, unexpected news on Sunday when he tweeted that the NFL is expected to officially expand the 16-game regular season schedule that we've gotten used to over several decades.

Jerry Jones, Peter King and several others have hinted at such a decision being made and have said that it would be very likely to occur. So, for players, coaches and the NFL community, this isn't necessarily some drastic, unforeseen change. It's significant, yes — there's no two ways about that. But it's something that we've known about for quite some time.

However, some individuals waited until this latest report to reveal how they felt about such a shift. For Saints star running back Alvin Kamara, he summed up his feelings in an eloquent four-word post.

Many Twitter users agreed with Kamara for various reasons, among them that it will alter NFL record books, put players at higher risk for injury and give them less recovery time and benefit the owners more than it does anyone else.

Alternatively, the fantasy football community and those who just like to watch NFL games weren't too disappointed.

The players approved the NFL's proposed CBA that will run from 2021 to 2030 back in March of 2020, and among the terms was that the NFL would increase the games played from 16 to 17 in the regular season. It wasn't a big majority — the final tally was 1,019 to 959 — but it was enough to get the new agreement pushed through.
