DeAndre Hopkins is apparently still enjoying the Houston Texans' tumultuous offseason from afar.
The Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver posted a cryptic tweet on Thursday night, in an apparent reference to the latest news about his former team.
The Texans on Thursday hired relatively unheralded 65-year-old David Culley as their head coach -- news which was promptly answered with reports from various NFL insiders that the move would not change superstar quarterback Deshaun Watson's thinking on requesting a trade out of Houston.
Hopkins, whose departure from the Texans via trade last offseason turned heads around the league, seemed to respond to the day's events by posting a GIF of a series of falling dominoes, without any caption.
The Texans unloaded the three-time All-Pro last offseason in a blockbuster trade with Arizona. Team brass cited salary cap considerations and an ongoing contract dispute with Hopkins as reason for parting ways, though Hopkins and media reports have seemed to suggest there were deeper issues.
A bombshell Sports Illustrated report late last year indicated controversial Texans executive Jack Easterby was one of the leading voices advocating for trading Hopkins.
The rocky offseason, combined with an 0-4 start, cost former GM and head coach Bill O'Brien his job. Easterby took over as GM on an interim basis, until the Texans hired former Patriots executive Nick Caserio.
Houston was the first team to fire its head coach this season, and was last to find a replacement with the hiring of Culley on Thursday.
The team's rift with Watson appears to stem over the Hopkins move and other critical decisions, including the hiring of O'Brien's replacements. Reports have indicated Watson has been upset over his lack of input in the team's direction, despite assurances that he would be involved.
