It's not quite Kenny Golladay or an established No. 1 wideout — yet — but it's a start.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Giants are taking a flier on wide receiver John Ross, agreeing to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million.

Ross possesses something that even the majority of elite wideouts don't have: 4.22 40-yard dash speed and the ability to unleash those burners on the gridiron at a moment's notice.

Staying on the field is a different story, however, seeing as Ross played in only three games for the Bengals last season before being placed on injured reserve. He also missed a large chunk of time in the 2019 season with a shoulder injury, derailing a hot start that included 270 yards and three touchdowns in just the first two games.

Ross was selected ninth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, the third receiver off the board behind Corey Davis (now a Jet) and Mike Williams. He certainly hasn't lived up to that value to this point, but he'll have a chance to turn it around if the Giants choose to let Daniel Jones show off that arm of his on some deep balls.

Ross is just 25 years old and has tallied 51 receptions, 733 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns since entering the league in 2017.
