The criticism of Jack Easterby continues to pile on in Houston.

Hall of Famer and former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin was the latest to take a shot at the chaplain-turned-executive when he was asked on KILT Monday if the Texans would still have DeAndre Hopkins if Easterby had been let go by the team before the trade.

“I do believe that would be correct,” Irvin said. “The worst thing I think you can do is come in cloaked under Godliness and do ungodly things to people.”

Easterby has come under fire in Houston after a scathing Sports Illustrated report painted the Texans vice president of football operations as a schemer out for power.

Many people, which now include Irvin, believe Easterby may have had the largest influence on the Texans’ decision to trade Hopkins last year.

His influence has appeared to continue to affect owner Cal McNair, who disregarded an internal search for general manager to hire Nick Caserio, who Easterby is familiar with from their time together with the New England Patriots.

Despite the mounting criticism of Easterby, he reportedly is still “very much involved” in the Texans’ football operations and is still making calls to agents on behalf of the team.

The Texans are currently viewed as a dysfunctional franchise, in part due to Easterb’s role with the team, and with the recent trade rumors swirling around Deshaun Watson and J.J. Watt.
