DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith is weighing his options after he suffered a setback with his neck injury, Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported Thursday.

Among the options being considered is placing him on injured reserve and shutting him down for the season.

"Right now, it's a big, big question," Cowboys COO Stephen Jones told DallasCowboys.com. "All things are on the table. We have to look at Tyron's best interest for his career. He's been battling this. He's everything you want in a man. He's everything you want in a LT."

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy revealed to the media Thursday that Smith would sit out of practice and would do work off to the side with the team's training staff.

When pressed further if Smith had suffered a setback after the Week 4 loss to Cleveland, McCarthy said, "he's further back than he was at this time last week. That would be the best way to describe it."

Smith was listed as a limited participant in last Thursday's practice and was able to return to the lineup after missing the team's previous two games with a neck issue.
