Audacy.com NFL Insider Ross Tucker joined Dukes & Bell for his weekly appearance and talked about the Jon Gruden emails, whether he thinks he will ever coach again, and why he thinks the NFL leaked the emails.
Tucker talked about the whole Gruden situation.
“I don’t think Gruden is ever going to coach at any level again," Tucker said. "There might be some college team that five years from now is just desperate and they don’t care about the backlash, or they will just treat it like some reclamation project like we’ve seen with some other coaches that have had checkered pasts, we’ll call it.
“But I don’t think it’s gonna be in the NFL. I say that because it’s pretty clear the NFL doesn’t want him. My biggest takeaway is I’m really surprised that the NFL did this.”
Tucker expanded on what he believes the NFL was thinking.
“They’ve got this workplace investigation into the Washington Football team, it was like a 10-month thing," Tucker said. "They’ve got 650,000 emails and the net-net was they fined Washington, Daniel Snyder stepped away, his wife became the CEO, whatever that means. And then we kinda all forget about it, we put it to rest, put it behind us and then they chose in the last week or so to leak some of these emails.
"Somebody at the NFL found out about these emails from Gruden, didn’t like them, and decided you know what, let’s get rid of this guy. Let’s leak these emails and get him out of there.”
