The door seems to be closing on the return of Colin Kapernick to the NFL, at least on the Seattle Seahawks.
During a presser with the media at the owners' meeting in Palm Beach, FL Monday, Pete Carroll was asked a number of questions, including addressing the Russell Wilson trade, and if they plan on getting another quarterback in the midst of contract negotiations with Geno Smith.
Another noteworthy comment from Carroll involves Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick, who held a workout with Seahawks receivers Tyler Lockett and Aaron Fuller, was rumored to be setting up a workout with the team after Carroll said he hoped the former Niners quarterback got a "second chance" in the NFL and even had a phone discussion with Kap.
“Colin Kaepernick, I know it, so let me just put it out there: He contacted me the other day and said, ‘I would like to get a shot, I’m working out,” Carroll said. “He sent me some videos — and next thing I know, he’s working out with Tyler Lockett.”
Well some bad news for Kap, Carroll told reporters Monday that talks "have not progressed" between the team and Kaepernick. This is just another indication that the window is shrinking on a potential return to the NFL for Kaepernick.
Kaepernick has been out of the league since 2016 and has been essentially blackballed from the NFL for his protest during the national anthem. Time is certainly running out with Kap turning 35 in November.
