There has been a lot of discussion surrounding Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown this week. It started with Jack Fritz posting a poll about whether the Eagles should trade Brown for cornerback Patrick Surtain II, which was pure speculation. Since then, things have escalated a bit.
Eliot Shorr-Parks of the Audacy original podcast “Go Birds” gave his thoughts on the Brown situation and took a pretty firm stance.
“I think he answered these questions knowing full well he is not being traded,” Shorr-Parks said (6:45 in player above). “This is just my opinion, just to be clear. I think he probably is annoyed by the trade rumors. He either knew where they’re from or he didn’t know and is blindsided by them and maybe he’s like ‘Why is this being asked?’”
“I think he’s probably annoyed it’s being talked about – and it’s not a rumor, to be clear – but he’s probably annoyed it’s even being discussed so he’s like ‘Alright, you guys want to talk about trading me? OK, I don’t know if it’ll happen.’”
Brown said that “it’s a business at the end of the day” when asked about said “rumors,” which he obviously could’ve gave a more encouraging answer two. However, perhaps we shouldn’t be reading too much into that.
“I do not think his answer speaks to him being unhappy in Philadelphia. I don’t think it speaks to the chance he’ll be traded,” Shorr-Parks continued. “I do not believe A.J. Brown is unhappy with the Eagles.”
Shorr-Parks mentioned that he was at the Eagles facility when Brown scrubbed his Instagram and heard that the wide receiver just wanted to get off of social media for the time being.
While the Eagles had a disastrous collapse this season, and there may have been some friction in the locker room, Brown should be in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.
“The bottom line is I do not think A.J. Brown wants out of Philadelphia. I don’t think he’s mad at the Eagles,” Shorr-Parks concluded. “And I don’t think – in fact, I can almost say without question – the Eagles are not going to trade him.”
