As the Georgia Bulldogs get set to face the Florida Gators on Saturday, there has still been no decision as to whether or not Georgia quarterback, JT Daniels, will resume his role as the starter for the Bulldogs when they take the field in Jacksonville. Following their practice on Tuesday, Georgia head coach, Kirby Smart did offer up some positive insight on Daniels progression towards a return, stating that “He’s looked good. He’s done a good job.” The Bulldogs have been without Daniels for three week as he’s been dealing with a strained back muscle.
On Wednesday, The Morning Show with John & Hugh spoke with ESPN/SEC Network analyst and former Florida Gator wide receiver, Chris Doering, who shared his thoughts on the direction he believes Georgia should take at the quarterback position for Saturday’s tilt with the Gators. “I would say that right now, it seems like the rhythm that offense has is something you don’t want to mess with,” Doering said when asked by Hugh Douglas who he felt should get the start on Saturday. Doering added that he believes Stetson Bennett brings “some juice to that huddle” adding that “it seems like the guys really respect him, he’s obviously been through a lot.”
Ultimately, Doering said that if the decision was his to make, he would go with Bennett, who has taking the snaps since the Daniels went out in the first quarter of the Vanderbilt game, as his starter for the Florida match up. “I think there’s something kind of special about him, for now I’m putting Stetson Bennett out there and then if it certainly comes to it, you have the luxury to have JT Daniels come off the bench and give you a little spark, give a different look and I think it’s a great position to be in,” Doering told John and Hugh.
