When it comes to sports you usually don’t see divided households between parents and children at least until college, but down in Douglas County the White family has a divided household already, and Head Coach of the Night Douglas County Football Head Coach Johnny White’s daughter Skai is only in high school, but she goes to cross town rival Dutchtown.
Douglas County and Dutchtown faced off Friday Night and Douglas County took home the 9-0 victory. In the postgame interview with Sam and Chris coach White playfully talked about the win saying “I told my team if I didn’t win this one I couldn’t come home.” Sam asked Coach White about the low scoring affair and the coach said “We both played great defense, we took advantage of a couple of miscues, and they did the same to us, so like I said we are just happy to get out of there with a win.” However, while this was indeed a great win for Coach White the real story is the rift in the family now with Coach White and his daughter Skai who is currently a junior at Dutchtown High School. Coach told Sam and Chris that this is the first time in the six years he’s been coaching at Douglas County that his daughter did not have on a Douglas County shirt. However, Coach did say jokingly that she was going to put on a Douglas County shirt when she got in the car. Now, Skai also got to say her piece on the matter on the High School Football Scoreboard show saying “Umm no '' when Chris asked her if she was rooting for Douglas County tonight. Skai said tonight she was going to be a “pacifist” today when it came to the game.
Family Feuds aside it was a great win for coach Johnny White, and he was very deserving of the Head Coach of the Night honors, but I’m sure no matter what the score came out to be tonight there will still be nothing but love between Coach Johnny and Skai in the White household.
