You all have heard the old saying in sports “The game isn’t over until the fat lady sings.” Well, she was warming up to sing the season ending song to the Roswell Hornets, but the Hornets and Head Coach Chris Prewett paid her no mind as they came back from a 43-34 deficit after scoring a touchdown, successfully recovering an onside kick, and then scoring another touchdown on the final play of the game. There was no quit in the players and Coach Pruitt, and that easily makes Roswell Head Coach Chris Prewett this week’s Coach of the Night.
When Chris asked Coach Prewett what got the momentum rolling to start the comeback, Coach Prewett said “To be honest with you we looked a little grim there for a little bit, and you know we were down nine, we ended up getting a turnover maybe close to like the 20-yard line on their end, and then we score a couple of plays later, got the onside kick, you know we had a chance we could’ve went for the tie I think it was like 4th and goal from the seven, and you know I thought in my head we didn’t come here to tie, let's get this victory and get on out of here, and the kids did a great job, and the quarterback scrambled in for the touchdown.”
When Sam asked Coach Prewett what the experience was like after making that comeback, Coach Prewett gave credit to the fans and student section for their support at the game saying “The student section was amazing tonight, and our fans were amazing tonight. It’s not a short trip from Roswell to North Cobb, and we had our little visiting stands packed out, so it was a fun little celebration at the end on the field.”I think it is safe to say that students and fans are happy they made that trip and got to witness their Roswell Hornets Football team make an unforgettable comeback, and advance to the Quarterfinals of the Georgia State High School Football Playoffs, congratulations to our second round playoff Coach of the night Chris Prewett.
