As the sports world continues to react to the latest suspension of Golden State Warriors’ forward, Draymond Green, Steak Shapiro and Drew Butler shared their thoughts on the latest actions by the four-time All-Star that now have him suspended indefinitely as announced by the NBA on Wednesday. Both Shapiro and Butler agreed that Green’s hit to the face of Phoenix Suns’ center, Jusuf Norkic on Tuesday was excessive and deserving of whatever the final amount of days Green will have to miss.
However, while Shapiro and Butler believe that there is no place for the antics of Green in the NBA, “there’s so much about his game that is appealing,” Shapiro would tell Butler, leading him into more of a discussion of the Atlanta Hawks and how they appear to be having defensive struggles this season. Shapiro’s comments were in response to hearing Atlanta head coach, Quin Snyder express his belief that despite their 135-128 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
Disagreeing with Snyder’s comments and referring to the Hawks having the fourth worse defensive rating in the NBA, Shapiro explained that in his opinion, he would prefer that the Hawks had a player that had some of the characteristics of Green, particularly when he plays without the over excessive physicality. “I wish we had some dog in us,” the midday host said, adding that he believes there is a level of toughness missing from the Atlanta roster. “We’ve got a bunch of nice guys,” Shapiro said.
