Ever since the stunning offseason trade that sent star wide receiver Tyreek Hill from the Chiefs to the Dolphins, football fans have been trying to figure out exactly what happened.

After all, Hill and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes were one of the most potent QB-receiver combos in the league.

Hill signed a lucrative new contract upon arriving in Miami, so surely that figures to have played a role in it. But Hill has also hinted that he wasn't totally satisfied in the Chiefs' high-powered offense, and this week he made another comment suggesting as much.

During an interview with FS1's Shannon Sharpe, Hill revealed that he wanted to be more of the focal point in Kansas City's offensive attack.

"When did you think that there's a possibility of, 'I might not finish my career here in Kansas City?'" Sharped asked.

"It got like that probably mid-last season," Hill said. "I'm the type of guy, I love playing ball and I love being by the team, because football is a team sport. And it would be some games where I get like two targets, I would get three targets. And we go into meetings and my coaches would be like, 'Hey 'Reek, we need to get you involved, we need to get you involved.'

"So, I'm calling my agent every week after they say some crazy stuff like that, like 'Bro, I got to get out of here.'"

Hill's assertion doesn't exactly jibe with the statistics. In his final season with the Chiefs, he set career highs in receptions (111) and targets (159). Overall, he ranked third and seventh, respectively, in the league in those categories.

That said, there did appear to be games when he didn't play as big of a role in the offense. He saw five or fewer targets in five different games. On the flip side, he saw 10 or more in 10 different games.

In the offseason, Hill turned heads when he claimed Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa was the "most accurate" passer he'd ever worked with -- no small praise given his past work with Mahomes.

In any event, Hill maintained that there's nothing but love for his former teammates and coaches.

"I love Eric Bienemy, I love coach Andy Reid," Hill said. "Those guys really helped get to where I am today. As a young player, they really developed me and shaped me into who I am today. ...

"No hard feelings, man. I feel like I can't mix my hard feelings in with the business side of it. I still got love for all of them boys -- Patrick, Kelce, Veach, Coach Reid, EB. I still love 'em. But if we do play them, if we do see them, it's showtime."

Meanwhile Hill is having no trouble settling in with the Dolphins. Through 14 games, he was on pace to set new career highs in both targets and receptions.
