It's only September but there is already one major head football coaching opportunity open: USC. The Trojans fired head coach Clay Helton earlier this week after his team's 42-28 loss to Stanford.

One major name that's already been attached to the job is former college football coach Urban Meyer, who is currently in his first year as an NFL head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Meyer was asked about the USC head coach opening during his press conference on Wednesday, and said 'there's no chance' he's taking the job.

But should we take that with a grain of salt? Audacy.com NFL Insider, Michael Lombardi, joined the Midday Show and said there may be more juice to the Meyer to USC rumor than people think.

"I was just sitting in my office, and I get a text from somebody in the league that says 'Urban to USC?' and I said 'get out of here; he's not going to go,'" Lombardi told Andy and Randy. "The guy says to me 'you wanna bet?' And the guy who asked me the question is pretty wired, and he's really wired in that Ohio area and he knows what's going on."

Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and Penn State head coach James Franklin have also been mentioned in rumors for the USC head coaching position.
