Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman and Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones have both been in the news recently and for, somewhat, the same reason: their contract situations.
For Freeman, it has to do with a contract extension with his deal ending at the end of the 2021 season. For Jones, it's whether the Falcons can afford to keep him because of the way his contract is structured.
The 2020 NL MVP, who is playing on the last year of his 8-year, $135 million deal, and the Braves have publicly expressed their desire to reach an agreement, talks are currently not happening with the season underway.
As for Jones, he carries a $23 million cap hit in 2021 and a nearly $20 million hit the following two seasons which hampers the Falcons on signing any of their rookie class unless restructured.
Who is more likely to remain with their respective team in 2022: Freddie or Julio?
