Anthony Rizzo rejected the Yankees’ qualifying offer, bud that’s because he was reportedly signing a multi-year deal to remain in New York.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Yanks have agreed to a new contract with their first basemen, solving a big question mark in the lineup outside of Aaron Judge.
Rizzo blasted 32 home runs last season, and was an anchor at first base, helping vastly improve the team’s infield defense, helping it receive the team Gold Glove Award this season. His lefty swing is a welcomed sight in Yankee Stadium, and with defensive shifts being outlawed, his offensive numbers figure to improve even more.
According to Jack Curry of the YES Network, the deal is for two years and $34 million, including a club option with a $6 million buyout in 2025.
