
A new bill working its way through the California legislature would require robotaxi companies to notify regulators when they cause problems.
Currently, anytime a robotaxi causes a traffic jam or gets in a crash, there’s a loophole allowing autonomous companies to withhold certain data.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that if this bill passes and autonomous companies fail to turn over the data, they can get fined and will be at risk of losing their permit.

Sen. Dave Cortese also introduced a bill in February that would empower local governments to regulate autonomous cars.
Waymo, a driverless taxi company, expanded its service to areas of Los Angeles earlier this month.
