CULVER CITY, Calif. (KNX) – A man was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm on Saturday, Culver City Police said.
At 8 p.m., officers received a call from a woman who indicated her boyfriend fired a gun inside their residence on Van Buren Place. She also told officers he was under the influence and had access to other guns.
When officers arrived, they confirmed the suspect fired two shots in the house. The girlfriend had managed to safely evacuate from the home, the department said.
The department’s drone team responded and used a drone to “ keep and overhead watch on the suspect’s residence.”
“Members of the Culver City Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) arrived and were able to establish communication with the suspect,” the department said. “After a brief negotiation, the suspect agreed to exit his residence and peacefully surrender to the officers.”
Hawthorne Police Department, Santa Monica Police Department, Beverly Hills Police Department and El Segundo Police Department also assisted Culver City officers on the scene.
The suspect’s identity is unknown at this time.
The case was sent to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
