A former official in the Los Angeles Fire Department’s union was charged with stealing almost $83,000 from a nonprofit tied to the United Firefighters.

State Attorney General Rob Bonta said Adam Walker, who served as Secretary of United Firefighters of Los Angeles City and was the chairman of UFLAC’s non-profit, moved money into his own accounts, and then tried to hide it with fake reimbursements and forged receipts between December 2022 and January 2024.

Walker is also accused of using some of that money for personal expenses and online gambling.

Mayor Karen Bass issued a statement calling the allegations " deeply troubling," and said that she's spoken with Chief Moore.

The L.A. County District Attorney’s office is prosecuting the case along with the state.
