Horrific crash in Fairfax district ends with one person dead, a suspect in custody


LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A bystander was killed in a fiery crash in the Fairfax district at the end of a pursuit by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies and the suspect being chased was in custody this morning.

The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near Fairfax Avenue and Third Street when a silver sedan being chased crashed into a blue SUV, killing the driver, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Video from the scene showed the SUV on a sidewalk, pinned between a tree and a building, as firefighters attempted to free the driver from the wreckage and deputies arrested the suspect.

The suspect was wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a deputy, CBS2 reported.
