Data collected by researchers at UCLA and UC Berkeley appear to show that ICE is arresting people in Southern California at a slightly lower rate than in 2025, but activists say that’s not the case.
According to the Deportation Data Project, over 2, 600 people have been nabbed by ICE through early March compared to last year, which was over 14,000 people across a wide area of Southern California.
But Juan Jose Guiterrez of the Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition told KNX News’ Jon Baird he doesn’t think the feds have eased up much at all.
“My perception is that people are still being arrested pretty much along the same lines as they were being arrested last year, and you know, and there's less and less things that they can do to defend themselves,” he said. “
The data does not include arrests made by Customs and Border Protection.
