FOUNTAIN VALLEY (CNS) - The deaths of a man and woman in Fountain Valley over the weekend were determined to be a murder-suicide, police said Tuesday.

Police received a 911 call from a resident reporting a loud dispute at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday in the 17000 block of Santa Suzanne Street. Officers found the bodies of the man and woman in a bedroom, police said.

The two died from gunshot wounds from a rifle following an argument, according to Sgt. Henry Hsu of the Fountain Valley Police Department. It is unknown what the dispute was about, he added.

The man shot the woman and then took his own life, Hsu said.

They were identified as Janet Vu Thuy Pham, 34, and Wyatt James Rock, 36, both of Fountain Valley, according to Orange County Sheriff's Sgt. Michael Woodroof, a spokesman for the county coroner's office.

The two had been in a relationship for several years, Hsu said.

"They had previous domestic disputes that police responded to, but there was never any physical violence, just verbal only," Hsu said.
