If you’ve recently bought raw beef from Aldi, you may want to give it a once over, as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for the product due to it possibly containing plastic.

The alert shared that soft and clear plastic could be present in the 1.5-lb. package of USDA Choice Black Angus Beef from Aldi. The affected products have a “Use or Freeze by” date of Aug. 22, 2023, and a timestamp between 08:43 and 09:23.

Officials with the FSIS shared that the health alert was issued and not a recall because the product is no longer available for purchase.

Aldi notified health officials about the issue once it was made aware by one of its retail stores, and the health alert was issued shortly after.

The beef was sold across the country at the discount retailer’s stores.

So far, there have been no reports of illnesses or injuries caused by consumption of the product.

The FSIS issued the health alert to notify consumers, as some may still have the product frozen if they have not consumed it yet.

Consumers are advised to throw the product away immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
