
Van Nuys, Calif. (KNX) - A child was briefly kidnapped in a Van Nuys neighborhood around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Woodman Avenue and Sherman Way. When the suspect carjacked the vehicle is happened to have a toddle inside.
After a brief search, police located the suspect around 2:30 p.m. in the 13600 block of Wyandotte Street.
The toddler was also found and is safe.
The father of the briefly abducted child was at the scene when the arrest was made, and he angrily tried to attack the handcuffed suspect.
Video from the scene showed the father being restrained by police officers and led away from the suspect.
It has been reported that the child's mother had stopped at a Starbucks at Woodman and Sherman Way, with the baby asleep in the back seat. She was getting out to grab a mobile order she had placed, but when she got out, the suspect pushed her out of the way and drove off.
