WATCH: Follow-home robbers hit victim with car in the middle of L.A. jewelry district

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department are searching for the drivers of a car that was spotted chasing down and hitting a woman on 8th Street, then making off with her watch as she lay in the street, police said. The victim told police she was targeted by the men as she left a jewelry store.

The victim told police she noticed two men following her as she left a jewelry store and walked to her car parked near the intersection of 8th Street and Francisco Street. She said the same pair attempted to break into her car as she began driving away.

"As the victim approached the intersection of 8th Street and Francisco Street, a suspect exited the Dodge Challenger, approached her vehicle, and with an unknown hard tool, shattered her driver side window," police said in a statement, explaining the chaos that followed.

"The victim attempted to drive away but was unable due to heavy traffic. When her vehicle stopped, [she] exited her vehicle and ran westbound on 8th Street seeking help."

Desperate, the woman ran into a busy intersection with her arms flailing, shouting for help. But that wasn't enough to deter the thieves.

Surveillance cameras show the car following the woman, even as she hides behind another vehicle, people running out to the street to try and help her, and ultimately — the Dodge Challenger running into her body, sending her flying to the hood of the car before she hits the ground.

After the hit, the woman is seen removing what police said is a watch, and throwing it at her attackers as they rush out of the car to grab it and get away.

Police said the woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, but did not require hospitalization.

The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect 1: Described as a male, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, white shoes, and a full ski mask. He was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

Suspect 2: Described as a male wearing a black sweater, light blue jeans, and armed with a handgun.

Anyone with information or video regarding the attack is asked to contact Detective Moreno and Detective Vargas at (213) 486-6840.
