Five Things for Thursday:
1. Amazon allegedly plans to layoff 17,000 workers. That's 7,000 more than the company originally planned. No word on if the layoffs will affect delivery speed.
2. McDonald's restaurants in the Middle East are including plant seeds in their Happy Meals. The lettuce seeds are from Del Monte Foods. McDonald's is encouraging parents and their children to plant the seeds. They hope to teach children about the values of patience and care.
3. Kohler is selling a new $11,500 smart toilet. The toilet has LED lights, a heated seat, an emergency flush option in case of a power outage, a deodorizing system, a bidet and room for a speaker.
4. It's National Monopoly Game Day.
5. (Fun Fact): The "Star Trek" hand gesture for "live long and prosper" is derived from part of a Hebrew blessing that Leonard Nimoy first saw at an Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Boston as a young boy.
