Wet Nose Wednesday with Teddy

He's food motivated but who isn't?!

Hi, my name is Teddy. I am a sweet, goofy boy who likes to hang out and observe the world around me. I look like an old man, but I’m believed to be around 5 or 6 years old. I’m on the larger size at around 90 lbs, so it’s probably best I go to a home with no young children. I get the zoomies and because I’m partially blind I might knock the little ones over. I’m also scared of loud noises, so I probably wouldn’t be happy with little kids since they tend to be loud at times. Another thing I don’t like is cats. I do like to chase them, though! I’m fine with all dogs. When you leave it’s probably best I’m crated. I have an incredible sniffer and I’m smart, so I’ll try to open food containers and steal snacks! And oooh do I love snacks! I’m a very food motivated boy, that’s for sure. I also really enjoy scratches, naps and prancing around the back yard with my fur sister. Speaking of outside. I’m mostly house trained, but I won’t tell you when I need to go out..so I may have an accident here or there. My foster family has figured out a schedule for me, which works quite well, so I rarely have accidents. I do have some medical needs, but they are managed with proper medication. My foster family doesn’t know my back story, but it’s thought that there may have been a head injury at one point. As a result, I am blind in one eye and occasionally have seizures. The seizure meds I am on right now appear to be working pretty well, though! The other medicine I need is eye drops. They help keep the pressure down, so I remain pain free. Sounds complicated, but don’t worry, I take my meds like a champ, especially when mom takes a small piece of tortilla, adds a little peanut butter and creates a peanut butter taco! So delic! I am also unfortunately heartworm positive. Given my seizure history, my rescue family thinks it will be best for me to be treated with the slow kill method. This method uses monthly heartworm prevention, which the rescue will provide, to kill the worms. It will take awhile to be completely worm free, but for my overall health and well-being it’s likely the better option.

Teddy is apart of Freedom German Shepherd Rescue who take in shepherd and shepherd mixes of all ages and temperament, pups to seniors. They work hard to help whenever they can and do a lot of fundraising to make it happen. All dogs are given vaccines, spayed/neutered, microchipped, have gone through heartworm treatment (if needed) and on monthly preventatives.
