After embarking on his own fitness journey in 2024, Jelly Roll is welcoming fans to join him with a new app designed to support individuals with no fitness experience to complete a 5K.

Jelly was inspired to make a change this time last year when he saw information for the 2 Bears 5K put on by Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer and he’s taking it upon himself to support individuals ready to take a similar journey. “I saw that Bert and Tom Segura had teased doing a ‘5K by May,’” he shared at the time. “I knew right then that if there was ever a place that I was gonna feel safe trying to do my first 5K, it was going to be at the 2 Bears 5K.”

The 40-year-old, who revealed he used to get winded walking to his mailbox, completed that exact 5K last May and is eager to motivate those interested in beginning their own health journey. He plans on doing it by hosting a running group/app called Jelly Roll’s Losers Run Club, which will prepare individuals for the 2025 2 Bears 5k taking place May 4 in Tampa, FL.

Facilitated through a Facebook group and the Strava app, participants will receive support from runner Matthew Johnson and trainer Ian Larios on everything from lifestyle tips and training to diet and exercise tips. The program is designed for beginners to help get them from “couch to 5K.” Jelly notes the word “run” is used loosely, making clear all levels are welcome and the goal is to give people starting their health journey resources and inspiration they may not have had doing it on their own.

“What we are trying to inspire here is just change and belief and community,” he said with the announcement. “Somewhere where you can go and feel judgment-free when you’re trying to figure this thing out. I know how rough it was at first and how embarrassed I was to just be sucking snot and air every time I walked down the driveway. But it felt so good to have friends and people behind me, telling me I was doing the right thing.”

He continued, “I believe we can create huge change right here. I believe that a group of people can come together right now and encourage each other to actually become what they’ve been dreaming they can be.”
