The band’s 2003 hit “Bring Me to Life” was first uploaded to YouTube back in December 2009 and has just eclipsed the one billion views mark.
“So very proud to have reached a billion views!” Frontwoman Amy Lee wrote on Twitter. “What a crazy thing. Thank you for all the love, all the memories. I’m speechless.”
The video was filmed in Romania and proved to be a massive success for Evanescence well before it crossed the billion views threshold. It was nominated for the Best Rock Video at the 2003 MTV VMAs and also saw Lee receive offers to act in films following the video’s success.
At the 2004 GRAMMYs, “Bring Me to Life” received a nomination for Best Rock Song and brought Evanescence the award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
Evanescence is gearing up for a special Record Store Day release that will see their self-titled 2011 album be re-released as a limited run of 8,000 purple smoke vinyl records to mark its tenth anniversary.
Featuring hit songs like "What You Want," "My Heart is Broken" and "Lost in Paradise," Evanescence debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200, reaching Top 5 in the UK, Canada, Australia, and across Europe as well.
