Even though the band was not scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, during the band’s visit to New York City on Tuesday night (1/16), Green Day took some time to step out on the town in full disguise, mixing in with commuters on a subway platform in Midtown.

At the Rockefeller Center station, the band surprised those waiting on the platform with a busking performance that also featured Jimmy himself on the tambourine. The quick set came ahead of their planned intimate show at Irving Plaza scheduled for Thursday (1/18) in celebration of their upcoming 14th studio album, Saviors, which is set for release on January 19.

As you can see below in a post from fan account @GreenDayInc, each of the members was disguised as they entered the system and got themselves all prepared to rock out on the train platform.

Fans were given a heads up prior to the stunt, giving many a chance to track down specifics of when and where the band would be dropping in for their impromptu set, which featured covers and originals.

Here's Green Day's six song NYC subway setlist: “Feel Like Makin' Love” (Bad Company), “Basket Case,” “Look Ma, No Brains!,” “Rock and Roll All Nite” (KISS), “Dilemma,” and finally, “American Idiot” complete with the gathered crowd singing along with Billie Joe Armstrong's all-new, anti-MAGA lyrics at full volume. Watch the awesome clips above.

Green Day will be hitting the road on their SAVIORS 2024 global stadium tour beginning on July 29, with The Smashing PumpkinsRancid, and The Linda Lindas providing support in the U.S. and Canada. Throughout the trek, Green Day is expected to play their albums Dookie and American Idiot in full in celebration of their 30th and 20th anniversaries respectively.
