There have been plenty of cases of musicians recording a cover of a classic song that nobody wanted. However, rarely do fans demand an artist cover a song. Yet, that’s exactly what is happening now, after Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo revealed the band’s song "Hash Pipe" almost went to Ozzy Osbourne instead.

Weezer released "Hash Pipe" in 2001, but according to the band’s frontman, the song was offered to Ozzy Osbourne a year earlier. “I think it was in 2000, he asked if I had any songs for him, and I just happened to have written ‘Hash Pipe.’ I sent it to him, but he didn’t end up using it. In another reality, it might have been interesting to hear him singing that song,” said Cuomo.

While the collaboration didn’t end up happening, fans are hoping this revelation can lead to something in the future. As for Cuomo, the Ozzy denial didn’t change his opinion on the Prince of Darkness, as Weezer’s new song "Blue Dream" was heavily inspired by "Crazy Train," with Cuomo even sharing writing credits on the new song with Osbourne, Bob Daisley and Randy Rhoads, according to Ultimate Classic Rock.
