COLUMBUS (KDKA Newsradio) - The Ohio State Buckeyes defensive end plans on staying for his senior season, despite being one of the most highly touted prospects.
Chase Young is one of the most recognizable names connected to the 2020 NFL Draft, which is still months off.
Young has already enamored draft analysts and has become this year's "generational talent."
But he's stated in a video from TMZ Sports that he plans on returning for his senior year.
When asked whether he's "going back to school, Young responded with "that's the plan."
As far as recent draft history goes, Young's considered to be a fit with rare company: Myles Garrett, Jadeveon Clowney, and Nick and Joey Bosa, all top-three picks in their respective draft classes.
Way-too-early mock drafts have consistently featured Young in the top five selections of the 2020 Draft.
If not for Joe Burrow's unprecedented season and meteoric rise up draft boards, there could be reasonable arguments made for Young going first overall.
He could still very well go that high if the Bengals, who are projected to get the first overall pick with three games left in the season, decide to retain Andy Dalton, pursue a veteran quarterback or draft one in a later round.
If the Bengals select Burrow, or anyone else at number one, then the Giants are currently on deck at pick number two.
The Giants might be hard-pressed to pass on an elite defensive end prospect after trading Olivier Vernon earlier this year.
