PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Superstar Garth Brooks addressed the media on Friday afternoon, a day before he takes the stage for the biggest show ever at Heinz Field.
Brooks addressed the press with his usual charming and “everyman” demeanor.
Playing Heinz Field is a dream come true for Brooks who is an unabashed Steelers fan.
“Pittsburgh had Lambert and Ham,” said Brooks. “Oh my God, if you’re a little kid and you see those guys that’s who you want to be.
But it is another Pittsburgh athlete that is Brooks’ real hero.
‘The real thing that stole my heart was a player here named Roberto Clemente,” said Brooks. “Been a fan of his since I was a baby, collected all his cards from my older brother and the fact that he passed away helping kids, he became a god to me.”
Garth also talked about the black and gold of Pittsburgh and how every team uses the same colors and that shows a city that is united.
“There’s a unity here, a family here (in Pittsburgh).”
Brooks also said his favorite Steeler is quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
“I’m in love with Ben Roethlisberger, he’s my guy,” said Brooks. “What Ben says the difference between this city and everybody else is they expect you to get up here.”
