PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Steelers running back James Conner during his show opened up about his injury from Sunday against the Seahawks.
“I don’t think it’s long term. I’m pretty confident I’ll be out there this coming Sunday,” said Conner.
As for the diagnosis for Conner’s injury?
“They said it’s a bruise or contusion, no tear.”
This is not the knee injury he had when he was in college but it kept him out of the game.
“I tried everything I could to get back in the game but I would be doing the team disservice if I wasn’t able to accelerate.”
Conner likes to compete and be on the field so the decision to sit out was tough.
“It’s about putting pride to the side and doing what’s best for the team.”
Conner wasn’t aware that Ben was hurt at first because he was out of the game due to his injury.
“To be honest when I saw the highlights after he made the throw I had no idea that he grabbed his elbow and had to leave the game. Then at halftime I saw Mason suit up and Ben had his helmet in his hand,” said Conner.
Conner says the team has confidence in Mason Rudolph under center and his preseason reps were very helpful to him to prepare him.
“I have confidence in him. Everyone has to do their own jobs. That’s how we go out and approach itm” said Conner. “With preseason I think everyone is in a different stage in this league. Some guys need reps some guys that have been in the league for 15 years don’t.”
Tomlin didn’t give a speech to his team today they all figured out on social media that Ben was done for the season.
“To be honest when the news broke, we kind of figured out when they were on it this morning through twitter and making headlines.”
Conner said that Ben was at the team meeting today and that he gave him good wishes and hopes he feels better.
